Chinese Speleologists in Bulgaria

From 9th to 18th August, the Bulgarian Caving Society (BCS) welcomes five Chinese speleologists and karstologists from the Board of Directors of the Kunming Geographical Institute in Yunnan Province and the China Explorer Society. The visit was a continuation of our cooperation over the past few years. Chinese guests, accompanied by members of our society realized an eventful program. The caves „Snezhanka“, „Lepenitza“, „Devil’s Throat“, „Yagodinska“ and the „Wonderful Bridges“ natural phenomenon were visited. In addition, the guests were acquainted with the cultural and historical landmarks of Plovdiv and Sofia, and visited the architectural reserve Shiroka Luka and the Bachkovo Monastery. The cultural program also included visit to the National Museum of Natural History and the National Museum of Earth and Man, the Paleontological Museum of Sofia University, emblematic landmarks of the capital, and of course the Rhodope Karst Museum in Chepelare. During their stay in our country, the Chinese colleagues made two speleological presentations to the members of BCS in Rakitovo and Sofia. One of the main topics of the talks between the two organizations was the future of our relationship. New agreement of cooperation was signed. At the same time, the next joint expedition was negotiated. It will take place in the spring of 2018, in the northeastern part of China, at the border area between Yunnan, Sichuan and Guizhou Provinces.
